The three aspects that matter most are raw material, color and volume.

  1. First of all, there are two kind of raw materials: artificial and natural. Artificial ones are made of chemical fiber, which are much cheaper but may not be very comfortable to wear. The most popular natural hair extensions are virgin hair and remy hair totally came from human hair so as to make them healthy, smooth and tangle free. At the same time, they both could run in the same direction without any friction. Then, the way of making a hair extension like the heat applied while manufacturing also affects the quality of it.
  2. Then, you should choose a color. The best choice is the color that is a little bit lighter than the color of the roots of your own hair since they are always darker. This could make the hair extension looks more like your natural hair.
  3. If you want to have a straight hair, hair longer than 55cm or a poplar bob hairstyle, we suggest you should add more hair volume. And if you go to the hairdressers’ to get extension, they will also give you some advice on the volume to choose.

Virgin hair and remy hair both are 100% natural human hair. The difference is that the donor of remy hair used to dye, perm or bleach his or her hair while the donor of virgin hair doesn’t use any chemical products. And remy hair needs to be rearranged but virgin hair always comes as it is. Virgin hair is more precious and expensive, and it’s the best product among all the hair extensions. But both of the virgin and remy hairs are smooth, healthy with perfect shape and quality.

If you choose a right color that match your own hair and you put on them in a right way, no one will notice that you're wearing hair extensions! Just imagine those celebrities like Scarlett Johansson, she tries very different hair styles while starring Lucy but still stay unnoticeable.

And others won't know that even you go swimming. But keep in mind that the disinfectant in swimming pool and salt in seawater will damage your hair extensions so you'd better wash it after swimming.

If you brush it very often and regularly wash it with shampoo and conditioner, it could last over a year. And remember always wash in the same direction with the shampoo and conditioner for dry hair and don’t use hair wash with alcohol. Avoid excessive use of heat stylers.

Since it's just like your natural hair, you can do that for sure.  Read this tutorial: https://www.sishair.com/tips-for-dying-human-hair-extensions/

Different kinds of hair weft have different method to apply. The most common hair wefts are tape, clip-in and micro-rings hair extensions.

Most of the tape hair extensions are pre-taped, so you could just attach them to your own hair easily. The best way is to put your own hair in the middle of two hair strands and make it natural and unnoticeable. You can also buy some glue to use if they don’t have a tape. Clip-in hair weft is also very easy to apply. Just use the clips to fix the hair on your own. And the micro-rings hair weft is attached to your own hair with rings without any chemical process which means it will do no harm to your own hair. You can also freely change and design your hairstyle with the help of hair weft.

How Many Hair Extensions Do I Need

Do you know how many hair extensions do you need? In general, this depends on the density and length of your natural hair, and the look you want to achieve.

1. Hair Density

First, you need to know what type of density your hair is.

  • Mid Length, Thin/Fine Hair takes just a minute or 2 to blast dry, is ‘see through’ at bob length, when tied back the ponytail is very sparse. This type of hair is often unmanageable. When grown to shoulder length it’s very thin and wispy.
  • Mid Length Fine/Average hair like Cameron’s takes around 3-4 minutes to blast dry, it can be tied into a respectable but not very weighty ponytail. When grown past shoulder length this hair type lacks weight and volume.
  • Mid Length Average/Thick Hair takes around 5 minutes to blast dry. When tied back the pony tail is weighty and dense.
  • Mid Length Very Thick Hair takes up to 10 minutes to blast dry. When tied back, the very heavy ponytail is thick and dense.

2. Hair Length

a) Very Short Hair

  • Thin/Fine hair – will need up to a full head
  • Fine/Average hair – will need a full head.
  • Average/Thick and Very Thick hair – will need a full head plus

b) Chin to Shoulder Length

  • Thin/Fine hair – around 75-100 hair extensions would be needed to add hair of up to 12”in length.
  • For longer lengths and lots of volume 100-150 hair extensions are needed.
  • Fine/Medium hair -to add hair that’s around 12” in length approx. 100-125 hair extensions are needed. For longer lengths and lots of volume 125-175 hair extensions are needed.
  • Medium/Thick hair – around 12” hair can be added with 125-175 hair extensions. For longer length and lots of volume 150-200 hair extensions are needed.
  • Very Thick hair – around 12” lengths can be added with 150-200 hair extensions. For longer lengths and lots of volume 200 or more hair extensions are needed.

c) Past Shoulder Length

  • Thin/Fine hair – Up to 16” length hair can be added with around 100 hair extensions. Longer lengths and lots of volume can be added with around 100- 125 hair extensions.
  • Fine/Average hair – Up to 16” length hair can be added with 100 to 150 hair extensions, lots of length and volume can be added with 125-175 hair extensions.
  • Average/Thick hair – Hair of around 16” in length can be added with 125-175 hair extensions, lots of length and volume can be added with around 150-200 hair extensions.
  • Very Thick hair – around 175-200 hair extensions would be needed to add 16” hair, longer lengths can be added with around 200 or more hair extensions.

How to Care For Clip-in Extensions

1. Take extensions out before going to bed, and gently brush them. 2. Wash extensions once a month with a gentle shampoo and conditioner.

  • Place the extensions in a tub or sink.
  • Dampen them with lukewarm water. If you can, use a handheld shower head.
  • Apply a small amount of shampoo and gently massage the fibers.
  • Rinse the lather out, and repeat with the conditioner.

Note:

  • If your extensions are synthetic, use a wig shampoo intended for synthetic fibers.
  • If your extensions are real hair, use a mild shampoo and conditioner, or a shampoo intended for extensions.

3. Hang the extensions up to dry, and don’t brush them while they are wet.

  • Pat them dry with a soft towel first.
  • Clip them to a pants hanger.
  • Place the hanger in your shower, or in a well-ventilated area.
  • Wait until the extensions are dry before you brush or style them.

4. Comb extensions using a wide-toothed comb.

  • Make sure that the extensions are dry.
  • Start combing them from the ends first, and work your way to the top.
  • Never comb straight down from the top to the ends.

5. Keep clip-in hair extensions moisturized, especially when you style extensions often. 6. Take care when heat styling your extensions.

  • Dry extensions before heating.
  • Avoid blow drying extensions. This can cause them to tangle.
  • Style the extensions before clipping them to your hair.
  • If you can, get two sets of the same extensions. Keep one pair just for curling and one just for straightening. This will cut down on style time and damage.

7. Only wear extensions in a ponytail if they were made to be worn that way. Some extensions will fall apart in a ponytail. When buying new extensions, read the labeling to see if you can use them in a ponytail. If it doesn’t say whether or not you can, it is best to be on the safe side and do not put them in a ponytail. 8. De-frizz synthetic extensions with water and fabric softener.

  • Fill a spray bottle with two parts fabric softener and one part water.
  • Close the bottle, and shake it to mix.
  • Spray the extensions with the solution.
  • Comb through them with a wide-toothed comb and work in small sections, starting from the ends first.

How to Care For Sewn-in Extensions

1. Detangle your hair before washing it and before going to bed.

  • Use a wide-toothed comb, a wig brush, or a special looper brush.
  • Start combing your hair from the ends, and work your way to the roots in small sections.
  • Never comb straight down from roots to ends.
  • If you just got extensions, wait a few days before combing your hair. If you must comb your hair, do so gently, and avoid getting too close to the joint.

2. Wash sewn-in hair extensions every other day using a gentle shampoo.

  • Lather your hair gently.
  • Work the shampoo downwards, from scalp to ends. Try to avoid touching the sewn part.
  • Massage your hair using circular motions.

3. Take care where you apply the conditioner.

  • Start applying the conditioner from just below the sewn part.
  • Your extensions may fall out if you apply too much conditioner where the extensions connect with your real hair.

4. Dry your hair all the way to the roots. Otherwise, you will risk the extensions loosening. 5. Do not use heat styling on your hair, such as straightening or curling. Don’t tie your hair back just after you get the extensions. Wait a few days.

6. Cover hair extensions with a net or sleeping cap before going to bed, which can keep hair extensions from getting frizzy or tugged out while you sleep.

How To Make Lace Closure Look Natural

1. Bleach knots Lace closures almost always come with those unattractive knots or grids that look like black dots throughout. If you want a natural scalp appearance for your closure, you should bleach your knots to conceal these grids. Apply bleach to the lace on the bottom of the closure. Apply heat. After that, you will have a natural scalp appearance.

2. Tweeze your parting area It is very likely that the parting area will have some of the hairs tweezed from it whether your closure is a freestyle closure or a pre-parted closure. You will see a noticeable difference when you think of a part made in your hair and look at a part made on a closure. The part on the closure is very likely to be a lot thinner than your own natural part.

3. Apply flesh colored stocking to your closure In addition to bleaching knots, you can apply flesh colored stocking to your closure to ensure that your closure app is flawless! All you need is a piece of flesh colored stocking. You can sew or glue this stocking to the underside of the closure, further concealing any noticeable grids or knots.

4. Tint the lace if needed Light brown lace can always be made darker, thus this color is usually the default color. So what do you do when your scalp is darker than light brown? You can tint the lace with fabric dye!

Tape-In Hair Extensions are pre-taped and then taped/glued together on either side of your own hair, and they last 4-8 weeks.

Sew-In Hair Extensions are the most permanent type and most seamless because they are literally sewn into your own hair and cannot come off. Recommended time is 6-8 weeks Fusion & Pre-Bonded Hair Extensions are bonded to natural hair using different adhesives such as glue, and are considered semi-permanent as they stay in your hair for up to 4 months.

Micro-Link Hair Extensions, also known as micro bead or micro- loop hair extensions, are applied by looping the extensions through the natural hair.

Then, you clamp it down with a special tool/clamp, heat, and a metal bead or ring. They are fixed to small sections of natural hair and tightened with this special tool/clamp. They generally last up to 4 months.

Wigs & Hair Pieces come in different forms and are applied to hair topically. To be specific, long full wigs are made to cover your entire head and it essentially completely covers your head and acts as a replacement for your own hair. Typically, real human full wigs can last for up to one year if you take good care of them.

Clip-in Hair Extensions come in a strand of contoured pieces, some long, and some can be cut shorter, with clips that are sewn into the strand. Clip-in hair extensions are the least damaging because they don’t involve any chemicals or heat, etc. They simply clip onto your hair so there is zero damage! With proper care and regular wear, clip-in hair extensions last anywhere from 6 months to one year and sometimes even longer.

10 Tips For Wearing Hair Extensions

1. Buy hair weft A hair weft is a section of hair. Buy one with the desired length. Then, take them both to your local tailor and have him sew a few clips onto the top of hair weft, thus you can secure it onto your head.

2. Get to teasing When it comes to a quick add-in, clip-in hair extensions are the easiest option. Now, tease your real hair right at the root to roughen it up a bit to keep the clips in place.

3. Put your hair extensions upside down Place the clip-in upside down against your roots when you are planning on wearing your hair up and want to add volume to your updo or ponytail. Thus, the hair extension is facing in the right direction. In order to pull off the look, you can take the end of your teasing comb and section your hair into a top and bottom layer-clip the top section up. Next, at the angle, tease the spots near the root where the clips will go and place the hair extension in. Finally, keep pulling hair up into the look you want.

4. Be your own barber Try this fail-safe trick to cut your own extensions to match your hair when you want to add volume but not length. Split hair down the middle in the back and bring it all forward while looking in the mirror. Turn your head to the right, keeping your body straight. Next, take the extensions and clip it in about an inch away from your part. Once it’s secure, you should carefully trim the extension to match the length of your hair. Finally, repeat these steps on the left side.

5. Go to a salon You can cut your hair extensions by your stylist. He or she can walk you through how to put them in properly. Thus, when you do it, it looks perfect.

6. Enlist the help of sponge rollers If you are using synthetic hair extensions and your hair is curly or wavy, dampen the strands with water the night before you plan on wearing them and let them air dry. As they are drying, take large sponge rollers, roll the hair up into them, and then leave curlers in overnight.

7. Make your real hair match the faux hair You can add a little shine serum to your hair before applying the faux strands if you have straight hair and want to wear a synthetic extension. This can help your real hair match the sheen of the extensions perfectly. If you have human hair extensions, you can do whatever you do to your own hair and the faux strands.

8. Give your hair extensions that beachy texture You can add surf or thickening spray to synthetic hair and then scrunch it up a bit too rough it up.

9. Clip in a fringe You can get a fringe that isn’t bluntly cut and has longer pieces on the left and right when you don’t have bangs but want to experiment with them. 10. Build up your braid When your braid isn’t as thick or long as you’d like, you can pick up a braid.

Is A Hair Weave The Same As Hair Extensions

A weave is a term which refers to synthetic or human hair used to change the appearance of someone’s hair by adding hair to their natural hair. Specifically, a weave refers to a style when someone’s entire hair is braided. When the braids are made, a needle is used to sew extensions of hair into the braids. The extensions are sewn from one ear to another. The hair extension refers to synthetic or human hair being attached to the natural hair of a person with an adhesive, clip-ons, micro links or tape to lengthen the hair an add fullness. Hair extensions are applied strand by strand to the natural hair.

How Wigs Are Made From Donated Hair

Firstly, sort the hair by length. During this process, you should remove any hairs that are damaged or otherwise not up to standard. Then, separately place hair into bundles by length. Tie them into a larger bundle that includes the entire ponytail with all the lengths. Finally, you get a bunch of smaller bundles inside of a larger bundle of hair. For virgin hair that is not color processed, the “processing” stops right there and the hair is then sewn into a wig or hair-piece.

How to Use Hair Extensions

Hair extensions are natural looking, but they can take a while to apply. Here, you can follow this guide to apply Clip-In Hair Extensions:

  1. Purchase wefts of hair. Make sure match your color as best as possible and find the right length of hair. Stick to 4 inches (10.2 cm) of extra length at the most.
  2. Divide your hair into sections. Pull all of the hair on the top of your head into a ponytail. Leave a thin section of hair down against your neck/back. As you add extensions, you will continue to let down more sections of hair of about an inch each.
  3. Tease your hair. Teasing hair gives the extensions something to stick to.
  4. Take one weft and clip to your hair at the roots. Be sure to evenly space the extensions, thus you have a level length of hair all the way around your head. You are able to give hair the look of layers. Apply the extensions in evenly spaced vertical sections, and then cut the extensions to blend them in with your natural hair. Cut or trim extensions to match the rest of your hair.
  5. Remove another section of hair from your ponytail.
  6. Finish your hair style. If you can see the clip from your extensions, you have to rearrange them to make they are not visible.

How To Weave On Hair

Step 1. Creating Your Base Braids

  1. Wash and condition your hair. Make sure that your hair is totally dry before starting the cornrow process.
  2. Gather the necessary supplies. To create the base to sew your weave onto, you have to braid your head in a series of cornrows.
  3. Select your part. When adding weave, you should place it in layers around a part in your natural hair. Your part is the exposed area of the scalp and is typically located down the center of your head or slightly off-center. You can choose the location of the part, and separate out ?-inch sections of hair on either side of it. Pin the rest of your hair back using the clips.
  4. Braid hair. In order to show your part, you will braid two rows of hair on either side of the part, away from each other. Start with one of the ? inch sections of hair. Separate a small piece about ? of an inch thick on one of the ends. Braid this in a French braid towards the ear on the same side of the part. Braid this strand about ? of the way down, leaving the ends loose. Work down both sides of the part, braiding small French braids ?-inch wide.
  5. Braid the perimeter row. Take hair out of the hair clips. Section a strand of hair ?-? inch thick all the way around the outer edge of your head. Start with the edge-braid from your part. Braid as far as you can around the edge of your head. Then, do the same on the other side.
  6. Begin the center braids. Follow the pattern of the perimeter braid, by sectioning off thin pieces of hair around the outer edge and working in. Go to the next braid closest to your hairline, and braid on either side of your part towards the back of your head.
  7. Finish your braids.

Step 2. Sewing on Wig Cap

  1. Put on wig cap. Make sure your braids are completely covered by the cap.
  2. Sew your wig cap to your braids. Start with the beginning of your perimeter braid near the part. Pull the needle under the braids, and through the other side, pulling the thread taut against the knot. Next, pull the end of the knot out just a bit and pull the two strings apart to expose the loop. After that, wrap the needle around one edge of the loop twice, and pull it through the center of the loop to create the base knot.
  3. Sew the wig cap to the perimeter braid. Measure about 1-inch down the perimeter braid from the first knot you made. Repeat the process. Hook the needle under the braids. Pull it through the other side. Tug to pull the loose thread tight. Wrap the needle around it twice near where you inserted it, and pull tight before the thread between the two knots has been tightened all the way though,
  4. Cut off the excess wig cap.

Step 3. Sewing on Extensions

  1. Measure the extension-hair for the perimeter braid.
  2. Measure the extension to go around the outside of your part.
  3. Create base knot through the weft of the extension.
  4. Sew the extension to your wig cap.
  5. Sew perimeter extension.
  6. Sew extension around the outside of your part.
  7. Fill in the rest of your head with the extensions.
  8. Sew on closure for part.
  9. Create closure for the back of part.
  10. Adjust closure piece.
  11. Sew closure piece to head.
  12. Cut and style your weave.

How Human Hair Extensions Are Made

If you don’t want to spend much money buying hair extensions, you can make one by yourself. Here, we will show how to make human clip-in hair extensions. 1. Measure the human hair weft, and cut the hair weft to the correct width. 2. Layer two or three wefts on top of each other. In general, a single layer of hair weft is not enough for people with normal to thick hair.

  • You will need 3 layers if you want to make your hair look thicker.
  • You will need measure and cut one or two more hair wefts, identical to the first one. There will be enough hair in a single pack of hair wefts to do this.
  • You can use your hand or sewing machine to sew the layers together along the weft lines or you can stick them together by using bonding glue.
  • If you decide to use bonding glue, run a thick line of bonding glue just beneath the weft line on the first piece of hair, then stick the second piece on top, ridge side up.
  • Do the same with the third layer of hair, then wait for the bonding glue to dry completely.

3. Sew the extension clips to the hair.

  • You’ll need to put one clip on either side of the extensions, right at the edge, and one in the middle to prevent the extensions from sagging.
  • Make sure to sew the clips to the side of the extensions with the rubber ridges!
  • Make sure to sew the extension clips with the comb side up!
  • Bring the needle, and thread up over the top of the extensions, and pass it through the second small hole. Continue doing this until you reach the last hole on the clip. Pass the needle and thread through, then tie several small knots in the thread to secure before cutting off the rest.

4. Apply the hair extensions correctly.

  • Pin up all of the hair above your ears.
  • Take a comb and tease the hair at the roots, then spritz it with hairspray.
  • Open the clips on your hair extensions and fasten them onto the exposed roots — one behind each ear and one in the middle.
  • Let down an extra inch of hair and repeat the process of teasing and hair spraying before applying the second set, if you decided to make a second set of extensions for added thickness.
  • Let down the top section of hair and brush or comb to combine your natural hair with the extensions.
  • Style your hair extensions as normal by using a flat iron or curling tongs.

How Hair Extensions Work

Hair extensions bond real or synthetic hair to your natural hair at the root. Hair extensions are usually attached in horizontal rows to the underneath sections of the hair, close to the scalp. Therefore, the top sections of the natural hair fall to cover the bonds. Real hair extensions are glued to the natural hair with an adhesive. People who don’t like the idea of someone else’s hair being attached to theirs may not like this method. However, real hair extensions can then be styled and treated as the person’s own after application. The other method is called mono-fibre – a type of plastic – which is very lightweight. Plait together small sections of hair and anchor them to the root with a heat seal. However, this system does not lend itself to styling with hot appliances such as flat irons and tongs, as the plastic simply melts on contact. With proper care, extensions can look great.

How Hair Extensions Are Sewn In

1. Choose hair extensions. There are two kinds of extensions: human hair and synthetic hair. 2. Choose a color that most closely matches your own hair color. 3. Calculate how much hair you need. The amount of hair you’ll need depends on the thickness of your own hair and how much length and/or fullness you want to add. 4. Think about hairstyles and decide how you want your hair to fall after you have the extensions in place. 5. Wash and condition the hair. Dry hair completely with a blow dryer and comb through it to ensure there are no knots or snarls. 6. Part your hair at the point(s) on the head where you want to add the extension. 7. Create the cornrow.

  • Start at one side of the head.
  • Grab three small, fairly equal size amounts of hair from the thin section of hair you’ve reserved for the cornrow.
  • Begin by crossing the hair in your right hand underneath the hair in your center section. Then cross the hair in your left hand underneath the hair that’s now in the center.
  • Secure the end of the cornrow braid with a hair elastic or rubber band.

8. Sew the Hair

  • Thread your needle.
  • Secure the weft together.
  • Make the first stitch.
  • Attach the extension.
  • Make a knot.
  • Continue sewing.
  • End the row.
  • Cut if necessary.

How Do You Put In Feather Hair Extensions

In general, there are several ways to put feathers in your hair to show that you have amazing bohemian style. Here, we will show how to attach feathers with glue. 1. Buy your supplies.

  • Long feathers, long and thin, usually have brown or black stripes. Grizzly feathers look realistic and fall gracefully against the hair for a look that blends in enough to look beautifully eclectic and not messy.
  • Hair extension shields, small plastic discs that you insert over the piece of hair, protect the rest of your hair shaft from the glue and heat you’re applying to the bit of hair that’s getting a glue application.
  • A keratin hair extension melts the link into your hair, gluing the feather in place when you apply the hair extension iron to the shrink link.
  • A micro-ring loader, a small wire device, makes it easy to thread a shrink link onto your hair.
  • Keratin remover is a product you apply to the glued area when you take out the feather.

2. Pick out the feathers you want to use. Pick feathers that look good next to each other. They can both be the same color, or you could go with two different colors for a striking effect. 3. Select a small lock of hair.

  • You either can apply the feathers toward your scalp or lower in your hair or choose to apply two or more sets of feathers to the same lock of hair.
  • You can choose a lock toward the front and top of your head if you want the world to see your feather extensions every day. For a subtle, more mature look, pick a lock toward the bottom and back or side of your head.

4. Secure the lock of hair with a protective shield.

5. Load a shrink link onto the microloader and insert it over your lock. In order to make sure it doesn’t hurt your head while you’re sleeping at night, you will want to set the shrink link about 1/2 inch (1.3 cm) from your scalp.

6. Insert the feathers into the shrink link.

7. Heat the link to glue the feathers into your hair.

8. Clip the feather tips.

9. Take the extension out when you’re ready.

6. Add the weave-in cap. This step will make the sewing process easier and will also relieve tension on your hair and scalp.

7. Sew your weave. Take your c-curve needle and begin by going through the weft of the weave, then the cap, then the first braid/track in the back. Tip: Thread your needles to about an arm’s length to start each time.

8. Continue sewing from the back to the front. In the back, the weft is folded over at the edges, doubling it, as the weave is sewn in the opposite direction. This will help minimize shedding.

9. Blend the hair you left out with your new weave.

  • Hold the clip end of the extension.
  • Hold the tail end of the extension tightly in one hand.
  • Brush the hair against the grain with a fine-toothed comb, starting at the clip and working in small sections.
  • Pull it down with your hand to smooth it out and repeat the process.
  • Continue combing and smoothing the extension until it’s tightly dreaded.

4. Prepare your dreadlocks. Your hair should already be dreaded before you put in any extensions. Cut off the tips and brush them out if you have blunted ends on your dreadlocks. You should have one to two inches (2.5-5 centimeters) of loose hair at the ends of your dreadlocks. Loosen the ends of your dreadlocks by using a fine-toothed comb or small brush. You can loosen all of the ends at once or do it as you apply the extensions.

5. Rough up the end of your extension. If your extension came with a clip on the end, cut this section off, and then brush out the end so that there are two to three inches (5-7.5 centimeters) of loose hair at the top.

6. Secure the thread into the extension.

  • Thread a sewing needle with about 12-14 inches of thread.
  • Sew a few small stitches into the base of the loose section of the dreadlock, close to the dreaded section.
  • Make sure these stitches are as tight as you can make them.
  • Leave two to three inches of loose thread at the beginning of the stitches, and then tie them off.

7. Sew the extension onto your dreadlock.

  • Place the loose, stitched part of your extension against the loose end of your natural dreadlock.
  • Center the extension so that an inch of your loose hair is against the tightly dreaded section of the extension.

8. Wrap your hair around the extension.

  • Press the extension into your dreadlock.
  • Wrap the sides around the extension like a tube.
  • Add a few tight stitches to secure these hairs into place.
  • Keep adjusting the dreadlock until the top of the extension is completely covered by your natural hair.

9. Tie off the thread.

  • Find the loose end of the thread inside the extension.
  • Tie both ends of the thread tightly together, knotting it several times.
  • Use sharp sewing scissors to cut off the tails of the knot, leaving about an inch (2.5 centimeters).
  • Tuck the ends of the thread into the center of your dreadlock to hide them.

10. Blend the two pieces together.

  • Insert a .5 mm crochet hook through the center of your dreadlock.
  • Gather some loose hair into the hook and gently pull it back through the extension.

5. Apply scalp protector to protect skin from adhesive.

6. Use a flesh tone wig cap to flatten and protect your natural hair. Be sure to line it up with your hairline to completely cover your own hair. The flesh tone wig cap will create a scalp illusion. You can allow the glue and/or tape to overlay onto the stocking cap, or loosely stitch the cap in place, to prevent the wig cap from slipping back.

7. Use hairline or a flat wooden cosmetic stick or a small make-up brush to apply a thin coat of the liquid adhesive (glue) around all the perimeter of yours.

8. Do not bond your lace closure to wet glue because it will not stick well.

9. Bond the closure starting at the center of your front hairline to make sure the lace closure is aligned properly. Press your closure down using after tooth comb from one side to the other.

10. Tie down your hairline with a silk or satin scarf when you have completed the application procedure. This will allow the glue to set and dry properly.

How To Rebond Fusion Hair Extensions

1. Carefully remove to keep the hair together for re-attachment.

3. Pick up a keratin grain or tip with the end of your hot extension iron to add more keratin to your bond.

4. The hair extension iron melts the keratin grains or keratin rebond tips, therefore they can be worked into the hair extension.

5. Place the hair extension the same way you would with an ordinary application.

6. The old keratin and the new keratin will fuse together, creating a bond that will hold as long as a brand new extension.

How To Put In Single Strand Hair Extensions

A hair stylist can do one of three things to add individual hair extension strands.

  1. Use a chemical as a bonding material. This method is akin to gluing hair extensions to the ends of your own hair to extend their length. Depending on the type of bond used (wax-based bonds, for instance, need heat), fusion may entail the application of heat or not. You can buy pre-bonded hair extensions, or purchase bulk hair and glue to create your own pre-tipped hair.
  2. Apply special tubing on the tips of the hair extensions. The end will be attached to yours. And then, each strand of hair extension will be carefully attached to your hair. Heat will be applied to the tubing to make them shrink, so bond the extension to your own hair.
  3. Use pinch to hair extensions so they would adhere to your own hair. Each strand of your hair extensions will be linked to each strand of your own hair.
