- Section the hair extensions. Start at the back section off each part of hair extensions. Remove extensions by using scissor to cut down on the bulkiness. Continue removing one track until only single extensions are left in the hair.
- Cut the ends to thin the hair. Having shorter hair will make your extensions appear thinner and lighter. Starting at the back, trim ends a quarter inch until you reach a desired length.
- Use thinning shears to thin the extensions. Thinning shears have one side that is a scissor and one side that is a comb. Use shears to thin extensions in a downward motion. Comb hair as you go. Make sure layers are even and lay flat on top of each other. Keep the weave longer in the back and shorter in the front.
